How to Stop Muscle Spasms
If you exercise or are always n the run chances are you would have or will experience a muscle spasm. You may even be doing a tattoo removal UK when it occurs. Now muscle spasms occur when there is a sudden contraction and tightening of a muscle. While these involuntary spasms can occur anywhere in your body, they are most common in your legs, feet and hands. Spasms vary in intensity and duration, and can be caused by various reasons, including lifestyle, medication, environment, and age.
Generally, muscles tend to spasm when they are tight, fatigued and overused. When your body is dehydrated and lacking in electrolytes and certain minerals, this can cause your muscles to spasm, too.
There are several things you can do to prevent muscles spasms. One is improving your overall health and fitness, which helps your muscles get adequate oxygen and nutrients so they will function properly, making them less prone to spasms.
Stretching is another way to stop spasms. Stretching helps keep your muscles flexible and can prevent them from tightening. Regular, gentle stretching of the muscles that tend to cramp and spasm will help. Remember to stretch both before and after physical activity.
Staying properly hydrated, especially when working out or while in hot, humid environments, is also important. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, and more if you are active or live in hot, humid places.
Increasing intake of minerals (like potassium, calcium and magnesium) and electrolytes, can also help stop muscle spasms, too.
